Excellent! Everything was delicious and the chef was entertaining. We really enjoyed it! The teriyaki steak was very tender and the fried rice and vegetables were fantastic.

The good... the food was alright. It's probably not the best Japanese I've had but it is good. The chef was good with the kids (and the grown ups too). It was my wife's birthday and they came out and sang to her. Also had no problems storing our store-bought cake for us while we ate. Overall, the service was very friendly. The questionable... half our group is vegetarian and they started out doing a great job of cooking the veggies first and serving them before cooking the meat (unlike some places at the beach that we shall not name who refuses to do this). They also subbed the miso broth soup in for the clear soup, which has animal broth (again, unlike other restaurant at beach), free of charge. However, when it came time to cook the noodles, they threw them in right in the animal grease after cooking the meat and then tried to serve it to the vegetarians. Then looked surprise when told they would not eat it. To their credit, they did prepare some more noodles in the kitchen for the vegetarians but the whole breakdown in the process from cooking the rice and veggies to the pasta was a head scratcher. Daruma Japanese Steak House has traditional Teppanyaki fare cooked table side. The food is above average, staff is amazing and jovial, but the design of the restaurant, with innefective downdraft vents for the cooking stations, causes intense smoke throughout the restaurant and, as I learned when I left after dining, causes a diner’s clothing to be so soiled that I needed to wash my jacket and clothes that I wore to remove the smoke smell. I can’t recommend this restaurant and I’m truly concerned that it could represent a fire hazard.

Okay so benefit of the doubt busy night non busy night ect... just drove back to fix one order before I could enjoy my own. To get home and find out my steak asked for medium was raw. I've worked restaurants and I know how it goes. If you're sending it out you let it temp up & you make sure it does so correctly before putting raw in the box. Considering it was medium not medium rare. Or blue. That's a huge difference in color of the meat. I love it when I'm prepared for it, not when I think i ordered a steak and got sushi.

Recently visited and the service was great, as usual... the bathrooms were very disgusting though.... there was cobwebs and dust everywhere, poo was dripping down the wall in several places. I mean this restroom had not been CLEANED in FOREVER. Very disgusting and probably will not go back due to this... I can only imagine what the kitchen must look like.
